Write to your MP to ask them to support Lord Nash’s amendment to restrict harmful social media platforms for U16s

Health professionals are urging the public to act now. Every day in clinics, schools and safeguarding settings we are seeing the impact of unrestricted social media use on children and young people, rising anxiety, disrupted sleep, emotional distress and harms they are not developmentally equipped to manage.

The vote is days away.

This is no longer a theoretical debate. The evidence is clear, and the consequences are real.

Parliament now has an opportunity to introduce meaningful protections by raising the minimum age of social media access to 16. This is not about removing the internet from young people, nor banning all online spaces. It is about protecting children from platforms designed to maximise engagement at the expense of their wellbeing.

Public health action works when harm is recognised early and prevention comes first.

Health professionals, teachers, police, parents and many young people themselves are calling for change.

Please take a minute to write to your MP and ask them to vote to raise the age of social media to 16. This is a rare moment where action can make a real difference.

In just a couple of clicks, using the following link, you can contact your MP. It takes seconds, but it could make a lasting difference.
